Simple Tomato Sauce
I love having a batch of this sauce on hand for meals like pizza, pasta, and meatballs.
It’s SO easy to make and only requires a few ingredients: canned tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, garlic and salt. That’s it. Keep it easy!
And in about 20 minutes you have a delicious sauce to use for different meals throughout the week. You can also double the recipe and freeze leftovers for up to 3 months.
Ingredients
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
3-4 large cloves of garlic slightly crushed, but still left whole
1, 15 ounce can of cherry or whole plum tomatoes in sauce, puréed in a food processor or crushed by hand
Salt to taste
Instructions
1. In a medium pot over medium heat add olive oil and garlic
2. Stir often until garlic is a deep golden color
3. Then add tomatoes and salt, stir to combine
4. Let cook for about 15-20 minutes over medium low heat, stirring periodically
5. Remove from heat and transfer to storage containers
*note for the garlic, you can leave whole in the sauce to infuse more flavor or chop some up and mix in with whatever you’re making!
