Beef + Spinach Sliders
I made these sliders for the first time at a BBQ last summer and they were a bit hit with all of the kids.
They are the perfect size for small hands and it’s a great way to get a little bit of greens in their meal with the addition of spinach mixed in.
For this burger, I top with provolone cheese and mashed avocado for added creaminess, but you could of course assemble however you like!
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef, room temperature (you could also use ground turkey)
1/4-1/3 cup finely chopped fresh spinach
Salt and pepper
Provolone cheese
Olive oil, canola oil or avocado oil
Slider buns
Avocado, mashed
Instructions
1. In a bowl, combine ground beef and spinach
2. Form into patties the same size as your roll, making a small indent in the middle of the burger with your thumb to keep the burgers from not bulging up when cooking (a tip I learned from Bobby Flay)
3. Top each patty with a sprinkle of salt and pepper
4. Heat a cast iron pan over high heat and add a light coating of oil (you can also grill the burgers)
5. Once hot, add patties, but avoid overcrowding the pan
6. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until a nice crust has formed on the bottom
7. Flip, cook for another minute and then add cheese, cook for another 2 minutes or until the burger is cooked to desired temperature
8. Meanwhile, lightly toast burger buns and prep avocado by mashing in a separate bowl
9. When burgers are ready, coat the bottom of each bun with some mashed avocado, top with a burger and the top of the bun
